Horner syndrome due to a rupture of the hypophyseal stalk after hypophysectomy.
We report a young woman who presented with a Horner syndrome for two years following a transsphenoidal hypophysectomy. Her condition had been treated as a subarachnoid hemorrhage with a subsequent frontal hemorrhage. The diagnosis of a hypophyseal stalk rupture was based on the symptoms and physical findings of the Horner syndrome. Pathologic studies demonstrated a bleeding hypophyseal stalk. Postoperative neuroimaging showed the hemorrhage to be confined to the hypophysis. be359ba680
